Higher is not always better

A higher deductible can lower the amount you pay in premiums, but it can also increase your out-of-pocket expense after a covered claim. Consider the cash you could comfortably access following an unexpected accident.

Compare both collision and comprehensive deductibles where they are offered. They can differ within the same policy.

Use an annual comparison

Multiply monthly premiums by twelve and compare the annual difference. Then consider how much more you would pay under each deductible if an incident occurred. The cheaper premium is not automatically the cheaper year.
